For AI systems handling business information or taking connected actions.

AI Data Security & Access Controls

Protect business and client information throughout the use of AI systems and connected technologies. Data flows, access controls, permissions, storage, integrations and information handling practices are assessed to identify exposure and reduce unnecessary access to sensitive information. Security measures are designed around least privilege, appropriate segregation and controlled access while supporting the practical needs of your business.

What the work covers

Protect information through its full lifecycle and secure the AI systems, people and connected tools that can access or act on it.

  1. Map and classify business and client information, including its owners, sensitivity and approved uses.
  2. Trace data from collection and retrieval through sharing, storage, retention and deletion, in line with privacy requirements and internal policy.
  3. Review AI providers, models, APIs and integrations to identify where information crosses system and supplier boundaries.
  4. Control access for staff, agents, service accounts and connected tools using zero trust, least privilege and scoped permissions.
  5. Protect data and environments through segregation, encryption, secure configuration and maintained software and procedures.
  6. Test AI-specific risks such as prompt injection, information leakage, excessive agency, unsafe tool actions and unreliable outputs.
  7. Check source information and AI outputs, restrict consequential actions and require human approval where needed.
  8. Maintain logging, monitoring and security controls as systems, access and relevant attack methods change.
  9. Prepare incident response, evidence handling and recovery procedures, with regular reviews of the controls in place.

Protect information and connected actions

AI security begins by identifying the information a system can reach, the tools it can use and the paths an attacker or an error could exploit. We review data flows, identities, permissions, integrations and the security procedures already protecting them. Controls, configurations and access are then revisited as systems and threats change.

Prompt injection can try to redirect an assistant through a document, message or website it reads. Hallucinated answers and AI systems acting outside intended boundaries present different reliability and operational risks. Testing, source checks, restricted actions and human review help limit their impact; no single control removes every risk.

Hamilton Lockhart's Security Control System brings these safeguards together around the work the AI is allowed to perform. It sets explicit access boundaries and requires stronger checks before sensitive information or consequential actions are involved.

Security Control System

  • Zero trust and least privilege for identities, data and connected services
  • Scoped tool access so an AI system only has the functions its role needs
  • Separation and segregation of sensitive information, roles and duties
  • Human-in-the-loop approval for consequential or uncertain actions
  • System controls such as validation, logging, monitoring, testing and updated procedures

What you get

A tailored security control framework, implemented safeguards and procedures for ongoing review.

  • A security control framework for information, access and AI actions
  • Implemented safeguards agreed for the systems in scope
  • Procedures for monitoring, review and incident readiness
